How did our prehistoric ancestors keep their genitals healthy and clean?

As a women I physically recoil and cringe at the thought of going into the woods naked and sitting or sleeping on the forest floor. I know that pubic hair is somewhat protective, and it’s self cleaning down there, but what about bugs and insects? And what if they accidentally sat on some weird fungus?

Animal skin clothing is also protective but they’re not built into humans, so from an evolutionary stand point how were prehistoric women protected from their downstairs region being messed with?
